This is not a message for people who take a slapdash approach to makeup removal. It goes out all of you who take the time to cleanse and moisturise every night. MAYBE (and we're stressing it’s only a possibility) you’re not doing it as well as you think.
As most of you know, cleansing is just as or even more important than the subsequent treatment. Grease, makeup and pollution are just some of the reasons for many of the problems we then try to prevent or minimise with treatments. The answer is staring us in the face: cleansing is just as important as moisturising.
Never more so than at night: the skin needs to breathe, recover and regenerate and our body performs these functions during the night. Good hygiene also helps boost subsequent treatments.
One of the most common mistakes people make is not removing eye makeup before starting on the rest of the face and not using a dedicated product (if you wear a lot of eye makeup or waterproof mascara). In addition to cleansing better, the skin around the eye contour area will be less irritated. Apply the product with a cotton pad and massage in gently without pressing too hard.
If you prefer a soapy feel, try Micellar Cleansing Gel: in this case, wash with warm water and pat, don’t rub, your face dry. Slightly damp skin is also more receptive to subsequent treatments. The towel matters: we recommend using a hand towel, preferably white, and changing it daily. And of course, make sure you're the only person to use it.
You can apply a specific moisturising cream to your skin to finish. For example, we recommend GF Vital-Age Night Cream with growth factors that stimulate cell renewal to make skin firm and supple.
Pamper yourself once a week with a peeling followed by a mask. Our Facial scrub has a triple effect: cleansing, sebum control and antibacterial. Then choose between Hidro Mask or Pure Mask, depending on your skin type.
Step 5: Nighty night!
Get a good night's sleep, because dreaming and enjoying this time is part of your beauty treatment, too. That and sleeping with a smile on your lips.
Night-night and happy #SmartAging.
