Josep Martí Tor establishes his pharmacy
in Barcelona.
A restless chemist. He collaborated scientifically with dermatologists of the time, seeking out the best formulas for complex cases.
He developed the legendary formula by combining Proteoglycans and pure Vitamin C to regenerate skin following the aggressive peel treatments that dermatologists often used at the time.
He chose the ampoule format to protect the formula from contact with light and air, preventing oxidation of the pure Vitamin C, the most active form of all its variations. He created a new category that went on to revolutionise the dermo-cosmetic market. The very first ampoules were produced as magistral formulas, meaning they were compounded individually in the pharmacy laboratory.
The second generation of the family decides to build the MartiDerm Laboratory in a small town close to the pharmacy to help meet demand for the new product. They never imagined the exponential growth they would experience in the coming years, eventually moving the laboratory to much larger facilities outside Barcelona.
The ampoules are the product that best exemplifies the brand’s success. Their innovative topaz glass format was an immediate hit and over 180,000 ampoules are now sold around the world every day.
Research helps us stay us at the forefront of skin care. Our pharmaceutical roots based on the magistral formula are the key to developing new formulas. Each skin need requires specific ingredients for visible, immediate results and more than 70 products endorse our solid background.
One of our most important values is transparency: our products do what they claim to, and claim what they do.
We inaugurated our modern facilities to keep up with the company’s swift growth both nationally and around the world, thus tripling our production capacity.
Currently, our products are sold in over 30 countries.

50% of the energy we use at our facilities comes from renewable energy generated at the very same plant (solar, aerothermal, and geothermal).
Something else that sets us apart is our Smart Aging philosophy, in contrast to the idea of anti aging: rather than fighting against the passage of time, we turn it into our ally.
MartiDerm is a family business with strong values, which is why we’ve launched multiple Corporate Social Responsibility projects. We invest all the profit from the sale of our hand creams into projects that help elderly people in the first world. What’s more, we are dedicated to offering employment to people with disabilities at our production plant.
Our scope of action broadens as we collaborate with the Piel Sana foundation on the Stop Sarna project to eradicate scabies in Malawi, Africa.
