Arbutin

What is it?

Arbutin is a natural depigmenting agent structurally similar to the hydroquinone obtained from bearberry plant leaves but also found in bilberry and red bilberry leaves in smaller quantities.

What does it do for your skin?

Arbutin reduces the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin (skin pigment) synthesis. It also reduces the formation of melanin build-up on the skin surface.
