Polypodium Leucotomos L. Extract
What is it?
Polypodium leucotomos L. extract is an ingredient derived from a species of fern that grows mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. This plant extract is used in topical cosmetic products and oral nutricosmetics for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
What does it do for your skin?
Different studies have shown that oral supplementation with Polypodium leucotomos L. extract helps protect the body - and more specifically the skin - from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, helping to reduce the damage caused by exposure to the sun. The antioxidant action boosts the body’s own defences and helps neutralise the free radicals that can impact proper skin-cell functioning and contribute to skin aging. Polypodium leucotomos L. is also attributed anti-inflammatory properties that can have a soothing effect on skin that is irritated or sensitive after sun exposure.
