Salicylic acid

What is it?

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid with a keratolytic effect. In other words, it promotes cell renewal. It also has a sebum-regulating and antimicrobial effect.

What does it do for your skin?

Salicylic acid acts by reducing the bond between corneocytes or dead cells on the surface, encouraging skin renewal and exerting a gentle peeling effect. It has multiple applications in cosmetics.

In dark spot skin treatments it removes hyperpigmented corneocytes from the surface of the skin so it looks more even and renewed.

In acne treatments it helps reduce shine and blackheads and controls the growth of the bacteria responsible for their appearance.

In hyperhidrosis treatments it reduces bacterial growth and helps eliminate clumps of dead cells.
